OPEN YOUR MIND CASE 12: El Michels Affair

Apparently before El Michels Affair fruitfully compiled reinterpretations of Wu-Tang Classics on Enter The 37th Chamber, the NYC group of session musicians led by saxophonist and organist Leon Michels already had a tribute under their collective, eclectic belt. Black Moses is an EP that finds this talented bunch paying homage to the music of the late Isaac Hayes. Named after Isaac’s 1971 Grammy award-winning album of the same name, it features brilliant reinterpretations of Bumpy’s Lament, Walk On By, Shaft, Run Fay Run, Hung Up On My Baby and and a remix of Walk On By. Like the 37th Chamber which may have or not featured your favorite Wu-tang bangas, this Truth & Soul supported project will leave listeners yearning for more.
