OPEN YOUR MIND CASE 10: the Are

Being that I enjoyed the ARE’s Manipulated Marauders, a beat project inspired by ATCQ’s Midnight Marauders, I was more than ready for a second helping of his choice instrumentals. This time around the Houston based producer is utilizing his music as a socio-political medium to shed light on the struggle for democracy in Iran. While it’s easier for a lyricist to project his views via his lyrics, a beatsmith does not share the same luxury. However; to achieve this effect, the ARE incorporates sound bites from real people involved in this present-day struggle. Furthermore, several of these beats contain samples of Middle Eastern origins which definitely help to enhance the entire project…ultimately bring me back to days when I walked through Rabat’s Medina with all them gawking eyes…The ARE's Iran is available for free download
