Last years Deeper Than You Think, from production team Cold Legistics, was nothing short of fantastic; chock-full of soulful samples and dusty sounds inspired by the likes of Madlib and the late, great Dilla coupled with CL’s unique initiative and talent. Naturally, when I came across their newest instrumental addition, Northern Star, I hit that 1-click-shop button without any second guessing. The result of the ensuing listening was a twenty-track ride through uncharted stars underscored by splendid soundscapes. Whether it is the playful injection of dialogue from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, or flipping America’s Daisy Jane or Pharycyde’s Passin’ me by; the result is so magical, unmatchable, spectacular, unbreakable.
