COPYRIGHT CRIMINALS: THE RIGHTS AND WRONGS OF CONTENT OWNERSHIP‏

Copyright Criminals is an independent film that asks “who owns this sound?” It is a documentary that examines the thin line between sampling and today’s copyright laws. By featuring interviews with the likes of PE, Pete Rock and De La Soul (all of whose careers boasts music that has been built around sampling other's works) and artists who have been extensively sampled without receiving a dime like Clyde Stubblefield; the documentary allows viewers to absorb the transformation of hip-hop from its meager beginnings into the multi-billion industry it has become today. Copyright Criminals from Benjamin Franzen and Kembrew McLeod will be available on iTunes January 26th.
