Final Curtain Call

Yesterday, January 13th, the world lost yet another cherished voice; that of Teddy Pendegrass. Unable to recover from surgery for colon cancer, he succumbed to death at a Philadelphia hospital. Famous for such hits like Love T.K.O. and Close The Door (which will be forever associated in my mind with Cedric's piece for The Original Kings of Comedy ) his career took a drastic turn when he was involved in accident that would permanently leave him in a wheelchair. For whatever reasons, Teddy P's legacy never amounted to that of say Marvin Gaye. Whatever the case may be a pioneering voice is gone...R.I.P. Theodore "Teddy" DeReese Pendergrass. In remembrance of this fallen star, Mick Boogie put together some of his favorite Teddy P tracks as well as songs from artists such as Ghost and Mobb Deep who sampled his music.
