The Good Son (Cover Art & Tracklisting)

Queens bred-emcee Homeboy Sandman will be releasing his debut commercial release, The Good Sun, on 6-1-2010. The forthcoming album, his first on indie label High Water Music, not only exhibits his patented lyricism that underground audiences have grown accustomed with; but this album has the Sandman on a mission of some sorts, “The Good Sun is setting a lot of things straight.  If somebody sets someone else straight, it might be referred to as ‘sonning’ them.  I’m ‘sonning’ people with this album—a lot of people.  It’s the good son though. It’s all done with love” Featuring production from the likes of Ski Beatz, Psycho Les and 2 Hungry Bros.to name a few; The Good Sun, is sure to contain positive, witty intellectualism from this U-Penn graduate who has no intentions of yielding to the true lies of the mainstream, You move in Rihanna and Ciara midst/rare are moments where motives are clear as a Sierra Mist

OPEN YOUR MIND CASE 19 : Chanes

Detroit mainstay, DJ House Shoes is proud (an assumption based on the quality of work in question) to present the latest work from up-and-coming producer, Chanes. An Experiment in Instrumentation is a fifteen-track instrumental album that begs the question, how is it possible to create musical sounds by electronic means? The answer lies within Chanes’s practiced synthesis of electronic, hip-hop, trip-hop and ambient music to create something that is uniquely his own.

Eternia feat. Joell Ortiz - It's Funny

Back in 2007, Canadian femcee Eternia began recording her sophomore LP with fellow country-man, and well sought producer, MoSS.  Almost three years later, the aptly titled At Last, will be released June 15th on Fat Beats Records. If association breeds similarity, then the long list of features found on At Last including the likes of Rah Digga, Jean Grae, Rage and Joell Ortiz should be a strong indication of what Eternia might just have to offer. A quick listen of the Joell Ortiz assisted It’s Funny, which sees Eternia sounding like a more aggressive MC Lyte, (not meant to be a knock @ Eternia but rather a compliment) does bear talent and would give any Barbie a run for her young mula baby.

On another note, one cannot help but be grateful for the recent surge of the “one-producer one-main rapper/emcee” type releases, such as Stimulus Package, The eXXecution, and 9th Wonder’s upcoming collaborations with David Banner, Jean Grae and Murs. It’s definitely a good look for this thing of ours.

Danny Brown - Re-Up

Question, which Detroit rapper considers the late Stack Bundles his inspiration?
Answer: Danny Brown (As if the post title didn't give it away)
Danny Brown with his unconventional style and unorthodox delivery is just one name out of the many found in Detroit’s undervalued hip-hop scene. But it is those very elements, coupled with his humor and one-liners that set him apart from the slew of rappers found in the New Motown. In either case, here’s the video for the Quelle-produced single Re-Up from his [Danny’s] upcoming album, The Hybrid.

Cambatta feat. Nino Bless- Good Ol Dayz

"Each one teach one" seems very appropriate when discussing Good Ol Dayz, as Nino, who is in the zone like the Orangemen* jumps on this aforementioned with Cambatta, who he describes as a “real young kid but the kid can rap his ass off.” Like G Rap, who saw Nino’s potential, Nino finds himself in a similar position with Cambatta…Show love and peep how both Cam and Nino go left like Barack cause hip-hop is conservative…
